Hello everyone, this is my video #49 in the “Musical Moments with Marta” series. I recently started a sub-series of Violin Cadenzas and so far I have done the cadenzas from the Mozart #4, Mendelssohn e-minor and Mozart #5 Violin Concertos. Here is one of my favorite cadenzas from the Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major!

This takes me back to my second summer festival trip to the US as a teenager, the Interlochen Music Camp in Michigan. After winning the Concerto Competition in the summer of 1982, I performed the first mvm. of this concerto with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra to an audience of around 3000 students, faculty and guests at Kresge Auditorium! I have performed this concerto several times since, but this time sticks particularly in my mind, maybe because it was my first performance of the work with orchestra. That was an unforgettable experience! I can still hear in my head the resonance of that huge auditorium, especially when I play the highest notes and harmonics. I am sure some of you reading this have attended Interlochen. What a special place it is for young artists!

Coming-up will be cadenzas from Mozart’s 3rd (listener’s request), Sibelius Violin Concerto and more! Please let me know if you have any other requests. I hope you enjoy it!

Love, Marta 🎻🙂💥🎶
